I have been looking at the float tube in the basement thinking boy I would like to squeeze in another trip to the local kettle pond before the seasons over.
Well I had a window of opportunity today so I topped off the air in the tube and loaded it up. It was a stunningly nice day on the pond for so late in October.

			<description><![CDATA[ Years ago when I started fly fishing with a seven foot Eagle Claw Feather Light fly rod and little Martin reel up in Northern Michigan for bluegills...there were several times when I had hooked up with a small bluegill only to have my rod bend over double under the weight of a trashing pike that had picked off my little 'gill as dinner.  <br>

Found it at a used book store in Long Beach, California during a business trip last week.  I've never heard of this fellow or this book.  It's got to be one of the only full books devoted to pickerel in the lexicon.<br>

I became so frustrated that i cast my fly at the head of one big fellow.  when it landed he simply drifted away to deeper water.  I changed sizes of flies, color and tippet; nothing happened.  oh well<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ people often laugh when i tell them i fish the Passaic river. but the longer i fish it, the more i am amazed by it. This week i've seen LM bass, bluegills, stripers, carp &amp; pike all living happily in the Passaic river. I've been using a March Brown 6 wt rod with the new franco vivarelli reel. The drag on my reel is impressive; it slows powerful fish and holds 150 yds of backing.<br>

			<title><![CDATA[ Amazing Strike ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ No pictures and no catch to report, but while out on Grove today I enticed a feisty pickerel on the deer hair frog I was casting.  No lie, this fish shot out of the water, grabbing my fly, slicing the leader as soon as the line went tight, but landed a good three feet away from it's point of exit, all in one smooth arc.  It was really an amazing thing to see.<br>

Not a bad fish, either.  Probably in the 18 inch range.<br>
