I've yet to see a bluegill swim as far as a bass to check out something. Maybe my bluegills need glasses!

Here's another fact : bluegills are near sighted. Don't believe it? Cast a fly 3 feet away from a bluegill and see if it will examine it. I fish clear ponds, and the bluegills refuse to swim very far to get food! Bass on the other hand...they'll swim 10 feet to check something that splashes in the water!
