That reel is a smaller version of the BPS's "Classic" flyreel. The flyreel is machined, looks nice, and works. I've use the Classic reel, and it is a nice reel.

Look for a Berkley Specialist 554 on ebay. They are out of production but show up regularly for $10-$20. About 2.2 oz, Ballance perfectly on a short 2/3 wt. They have a skelital aluminum frame and a graphite spool. I caught t he biggest largemouth of my life on a 554 and she worke that drag ( and a Sage 7'9" 2 wt) HARDER than I care to remember. i.e the reel is up to anything you would ask a 2 wt to do. ( I have 5-6 and hoard em ;-)

any of the forbes reels in 2 1/2" such as the avon will be very nice. more than the 79.00 of the titanium forbes though. these are all click pawl reels. more than adequate in my mind. i have taken 26" striper on a click reels and lots of bonito. the quality of the young made forbes reels is excellent. the forbes titanium was not made by young of england. it was made by someone else for them. maybe in the orient. not sure.

If I could buy a Pfleuger Medalist 1492 that I can reverse to hold the rod in my Right hand and reel with my Left hand I'd have bought another and been happy with it. if you are not concerned with quality or what the fishin friends might say when youre not listening, buy a cahill crystal river cr-0002a from www.gofishin.com. It'l set you back $10 plus shipping but they hold up pretty well as a place to hold your line; and theyre very light, I would guess around 3 ounces-p-

If you are fishing ultra light, I would think you could go a lot cheaper as the reel isn't going to be much more than a line holder. But if you are more concerned with weight than price, 2.2 oz is pretty tough to beat. FWIW, my little Tioga 2 is about 4oz, but matches nicely with my #2 rod. The rod is glass, so a little heavier reel is a better fit in terms of balance.

I need a reel for a short, under 6ft., 1 or 2wt. small water/blueline flyrod. Bass Pro Shops has a 'White River' fly reel that weighs 2.2oz. Is this a good reel?Or not? At $89.99 plus shipping this is more than I want to spend on an unknown. Thanks.
