I'm amazed by the fisheries in and around NYC too. yes that is the passaic river where I catch pike and carp on flies. I use orvis mirage tippet 80 lb as
a shock tippet. I never use wire. I did use 60 lb but a few years ago a big pike ended that practice. no fire works, the line stopped moving and went taut.
i thought i was caught on debris and then there was no tension at all. The fly, the 60 lb tippet, all gone. It is fun to know that I can catch fish that
many people pay lots of...

I really need to get down to NYC and catch up with you to do some urban angling, Bill. I am in awe of the pike and carp you catch especially. Since my
NYC-based client went belly-up a couple years ago I've had no opportunities to get to the city, though.

I don't care about the concrete... it's the fish that impress me! Keep it up.

I used a redington 4 pc 9 wt with an intermediate 10 wt line. He put up a great fight more than four tail walks and I lost count of the runs. I didn't
weigh him and he got to keep my fly. There was no way I was sticking my hand down his throat for anything!
