My first pike of the season, after a month of serious effort.  I had a number of knot failures and even a brute who chewed through a 60lb shock tippet( i've since begun to use 80lb as a shock tippet)!  Boy what a rush, piking.

			<description><![CDATA[ Bill, what river are you fishing? I&#39;m always amazed at the pike you catch down there since I&#39;d always believed them to be fish that favored cold/clear
water, and here you are catching them in NYC in the middle of August!

This is the fly i used(all black, salt water with a little faux red gill).  I used an intermediate orvis line(10 wt).  rod was a redington 9 wt.  The trick was to slow down my retrieve.  for weeks i had been alternating between fast and super fast strips; thinking that i would get a BG... ]]></description>
