I found an old intact glass spinning rod of unknown make in my basement this evening. It's 6'4" and appears to be of 1960s vintage. Nice and
limber. Metal ferrules that still pop nicely; cork grip that used sliding rings, but they are missing as it looks like there was at one time a butt cap that
kept them on. Perhaps the butt cap might have give a clue as to the maker.
Glass is an attractive dark brown, reminiscent of my old Wright & McGill but a little darker, with brownish-maroon wraps, if that helps ID the maker; some of the wraps are frayed and the laquering seems a bit heavy. There's a simple decorative wrap near the grip done in black that is a little sloppy -- might have been a custom build.
Seems like it might serve as the blank for a nice little project.
If you want more info, PM me. B/O. I can hand-deliver to any Mass-based parties once the ice clears and the water warms if you want to fish some water somewhere. If you are out-of-state or in Mass and want it sooner, I'll ship.
