Happy New year to all;

2008 has finally arrived and it's time for our annual Bass Pond fly swap. Dust off your Vices and get out the tying material, it's going to be a "Feather & Hackle Smorgasbord", for sure. We have had some really fantastic flies tied in the past by our members. You don't have to be an expert fly tier; some great flies have come from our novice tiers. We'll hope to get 12 tiers (if we can get that many) and each tier will tie 12 flies. Let's have flies mailed in to me by February 29^th. You may tie a fly suitable for either bass or pan fish. Please mark your flies with a "toe tag" that shows your name and the name of the fly. Put your flies in a Zip Lock baggie with a return address so that I don't get your flies mixed up and can send you your collection of flies from the swap. I will take pictures of each fly and post it on the website so that all members can view them. You never know, members may even inquire more info about flies from the fly swaps, request tying instructions and flies from tiers. Please let us know what fly you plan to tie so there are no duplicate flies.

I'm a buyer, not a tyer... so please whip up 14 flies so we can auction off the two extra sets. Proceeds go toward support/upkeep of the site/board.

Since there is no cost presently for the Yuku board we are not doing extra sets for auction - sorry Spinzo!
Count me in for the swap - I'll tie one of the ol' style flies..

Sounds good count me In, Im tying Holloweems right now so I will whip up an extra dozen for the swap. I will ship with a Self Addressed and postage paid box as well, glad to make it this year.

I will tie the Reznikoff, which is a little crayfish imitation, good for bass, brim, or whatever eats crayfish. I think I tied it in this swap a few years ago-p-

Hi guys, perhaps its the same problem I have with getting connected with both the bass pond and clarks, with the new Yuku system and my slow dialup I only connect about 1/10 of the times I try. The rest of the time my login times out (cant get the login process completed before Yuku says my login is taking too long and they shut me down) I know a few other of the guys that are over on the fiberglassflyrodders forum have expressed the same problem with both this site and clarks. In addition alot of times it seems both boards are just down to us, don't know if thats just to dialup or not though. Growing pains between the new system and those of us still connected with slow dialup mostly I guess.

I think I will tie some Salt Shakers. I might tie a Texas version of a an older pattern however.

Well mine are already in the mail so I will package two more into an envelope and send them off to Gilbuster.
Sure is nice of Yuku to fix all the bugs before charging us. I think Im still only logging in about 10% of the time and on weekends it seems both the Bass Pond and Clarks is down alot. Oh well.
I would suggest one thing to the moderators of this board. Contact Tom over at the Fiberglassflyrodders forum and find out how he set up their PayPal Account. Then if we auction off a couple of sets the Board can settle how the money is to be spend. Im thinking perhaps other systems that are not YUKU might be able to offer us an alternative that is as good as the older EzBoard was. As long as the board keeps the money in their hands it can be spent the way the board wants, not subject to Yuku's demands.

Bass Pond Gang,
I just received Richard's flies in the mail today, man... great looking flies. Since Alec found out from the Yuku website will cost some money this year, we will have another annual Bass Pond fly auction to raise some $$$ towards keeping The Bass Pond website open,...Fly auctions are always great fun, the non-tiers can really get involved. Each tier needs to tie 2 extra flies that will be auction off. I will gladly tie 2 extra flies for a exciting STS fly auction. I will take pictures and post each fly individually the week of February 24th - 29th, so all tiers have time to get them to me & view them before fly auction. The Fly auction will start March 1 and close March 7th. This should be great fun!

So far there are 6 tiers who have volunteered for the Swap. Tiers need to tie 8 flies right now, but there may be more tiers, so hold off a couple of weeks before mailing them to me. Here is the current list

Hi Guys Im sure we are all aware of the recent changes that have transpired sense Yuku. While I can't access this site alot I do support it. Im sure others do as well. If it would help I would be glad to come up with another 14 flys and Im sure others would so we can have our normal fly swap and auction. I will make a different pattern of course, any others in? I know John has his goldies and froggies which I can attest to are great lake flys.

Great idea Richard, I agree with you and will tie another 16 flies for the fly auction, I will tie 8 Goldies and 8 Rob's crayfish. that will make a total of 10 flies available for the auction flies. 6 flies for the swap and 2 for the auction...I am off to the tying bench

I will ship 10 grasshoppers with rubber legs and 10 letort crickets, both work well on everything in the lake here, I will get them off in the mail on Monday, that will be enough to cover 8 contributors and 2 extra for sets of 12 for our site auction.
