I know for you Cape guys the fall striper season is just getting underway, but north of Cape Ann, it's winding down quickly. Still, I managed to get out on the water off the NH coast yesterday with a good friend and took advantage of some GREAT weather. Chilly to start -- upper 30s as we sped through Great Bay into the Piscataqua -- but once the sun's rays took effect, it was gorgeous. My buddy took a fish of about 22" in the river after we happened upon a small group of fish splashing around. I'd already lost two chances earlier. We then rode out to Isles of Shoals and fished along the wash of the rocks and I picked up a 30" fish. What a blast. There was a school of fish, apparently, in the vicinity as one fish cartwheeled out of the water over my plug and the second fish got the prize. As I fought the fish there were a half dozen or so slashing around it under water. We'll be eating one of its fillets tonight (the fish was unreleasable).

For those of you here in the Northeast, get out when you can. The season's winding down, for sure.
