I use a 7ft MH and M Falcon Spin Rod for stripers off my freinds boat. I have landed fish up to 22lbs on these rods using 12lb test. You probably could get away with 10lb test to make it more FW and SW friendly. I don't know anything about the Okumas other than they are inexpensive reels. I would think a liberal rinsing using freshwater would be required after using them in the salt though. They will probably not hold up to neglect as well as some of the penns and other traditionals. But even Penns quality is suspect on some of their reels nowadays. The penn slammers are supposed to be decent. I have had good luck with Daiwa reels over the years and the old style Daiwa Black Golds are a nice solid dependable spin reel. But they don't have the modern spool design. Actually for a nice reel suitable in both SW and FW the Daiwa 2600 and 2400 are nice reels.
