For you purists out there, look away, but earlier this week I was on the Assabet River in Stow. I was chucking flies earlier in the day, but fishing on a bass boat with a buddy of mine, once the wind picked up, and one near miss of my cast and his head, I switched to "egg beaters." However, let me tell you that the two of us landed a passel of pickerel on that water, many of which were 20" or better. We got a bunch of bass, too, and saw some carp working in the shallows.
It was my first time on the Assabet, but I'm convinced -- that's one fish-filled river. I'll be back there. Lots of bass, sunfish, pickerel, and some carp to be had.
